The pool at Villa Duga ready for new guests

In short

From June to August, stays at our villas run Saturday to Saturday with a minimum of seven nights. The rest of the year you can arrive on any day with a minimum stay of six nights. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 10:00, which leaves time to clean the house and prepare the pool for the next guests.

If you have looked at villa holidays in Croatia before, you will have seen it: in high summer, many houses can only be booked from Saturday to Saturday. Our villas work the same way. Here is how it works and why.

The rules at our villas

Period Arrival day Minimum stay
June, July and August Saturday 7 nights (Saturday to Saturday)
Rest of the year Any day 6 nights

Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 10:00 at all three villas: Villa Duga, Villa Bina and Villa Cvita Domenica.

When you enter dates on our website, the price estimate checks these rules and tells you if a date range does not fit.

Why Saturday to Saturday?

Cleaning and preparing a large house takes time

A villa for twelve has six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a kitchen, a summer kitchen, terraces and a pool. Between guests everything is cleaned, beds are made, the pool is checked and the garden is tidied. The five hours between 10:00 and 15:00 are a full working day for the people who do it. With one fixed changeover day a week, that work can be planned properly.

Summer weeks fill up as whole weeks

In July and August most families book a week or two. A Saturday rule avoids the gaps that would appear if one group left on a Tuesday and the next arrived on a Saturday: three empty nights that nobody can use.

Flights and roads follow the same pattern

Many summer charter flights to Pula and many package holidays run on weekly cycles, so a Saturday changeover fits the way people travel. The downside is busier roads on Saturdays; leave early, or plan a long lunch on the way.

Planning around a Saturday changeover

  • Arriving early? Spend the morning at the beach or in Poreč old town, and have lunch before you check in. Our Poreč old town walk is about two hours.
  • Leaving late? Check-out is at 10:00, so plan your last morning: a swim at a public beach, a coffee in town, or a visit to a winery on the way to the airport.
  • Shopping: since 2023, most Croatian shops open only on a limited number of Sundays a year, so do your first big shop on arrival day. See our self-catering guide.

Outside summer: more flexibility

From September to May there is no fixed arrival day, and the minimum stay is six nights. This makes the shoulder seasons ideal for longer, more flexible trips. Read the best time to visit Istria to choose your month.
