Poreč
Poreč has been a town since Roman times, and its old centre still follows the Roman grid, with the Decumanus as the main street. The Euphrasian Basilica, built in the 6th century and decorated with gold mosaics, is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The harbour promenade, the old-town streets and the restaurants in the stone houses are busiest on summer evenings. From Villa Duga the old town is 3.6 km away; from Labinci about 11 km.
Beaches
The coast around Poreč has pebble and rock beaches with clear water, many with pine shade. The closest to Villa Duga are Materada and Laguna, about 1.6 km away, which you can reach on foot or by bike.
From Labinci, the nearest beaches are around Santa Marina and Tar, about 9 km away, and Poreč’s town beaches are a 15-minute drive.
Labinci and the Istrian hills
Labinci is a small village in the municipality of Kaštelir-Labinci, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Restaurant Toni is within walking distance of Villa Bina and Villa Cvita Domenica.
Baredine Cave, with guided tours through its limestone halls, is under 5 km away, as is the Traktor Story museum of old farm machinery. This part of Istria is known for olive oil and for Malvazija and Teran wines; many family producers sell from the farm.
Days out
Novigrad, a small walled town on the sea, is 12 to 13 km from the villas. Istralandia water park is about 18 km away. Rovinj and the hill towns of Motovun and Grožnjan are within an hour’s drive.
Eating out in Poreč
In the old town, the Pentagonal Tower (Peterokutna kula) has a restaurant and roof terrace inside a medieval defensive tower. Old Town Wine Bar pours Istrian and international wines by the glass, and Divino serves seafood and Istrian dishes by the water.
Getting here
The nearest airport is Pula, about 55 km from the villas. Many guests drive: Poreč is connected to the Istrian motorway (Istrian Y), and the villas have free private parking.
