In short

For swimming and long beach days, come between mid-June and mid-September, when the sea around Poreč averages 22 to 25 °C. For walking, cycling, food and fewer people, May, early June and September are the sweet spot. October and November bring truffles and the olive harvest; winter is quiet, with many seasonal businesses closed.

Summer: mid-June to August

This is beach season. Days are long and hot, the sea is at its warmest, and everything is open: beach bars, boat trips, aquaparks and summer festivals. It is also the busiest and most expensive time, especially from mid-July to mid-August. Roads to the coast are busiest on Saturdays.

At our villas, stays from June to August run Saturday to Saturday with a minimum of seven nights. Read why summer villa stays run Saturday to Saturday.

Late spring: May and early June

Our favourite time for active holidays. The countryside is green, wild flowers are out, cycling and walking are comfortable, and the old towns are calm. The sea is still fresh in May, but a private pool solves that problem. Many wineries open their cellars to visitors in late spring.

September

September feels like summer without the crowds. The sea stays warm for most of the month, the grape harvest is under way inland, and from mid-September our prices drop to low-season rates. Read our September guide.

Autumn: October and November

The season for food lovers: white truffles, new olive oil, chestnuts and young wine. October can still bring warm beach days. See Poreč in autumn for what stays open.

Winter and early spring: December to April

Quiet, with many hotels, campsites and beach businesses closed. Towns are lived in and restaurants used by locals stay open. Good for a calm break with walks on empty seafronts, long lunches and day trips without queues. Wild asparagus season starts in early spring.

Our recommendation

  • Families with school-age children: July or August for the warm sea, or late June if term dates allow.
  • Couples and groups of friends: June or September.
  • Food and wine: October.
  • Cyclists and walkers: April, May or late September.

Outside summer, our villas take arrivals on any day with a minimum stay of six nights. Check dates and prices on the villas page.

Opening times, timetables and prices change from year to year, so check them with the venue before you go.
